Lou Hirschman, D.V.M.

Dr. Hirschman is the owner of Desert Hills Animal Hospital and has been practicing Veterinary Medicine since 1980 in the Reno/Sparks area. He graduated from Churchill County High School in 1971 and from there, attended University of Nevada Reno 1971-1975 and received his degree in Animal Science. Dr. Hirschman graduated from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1979. After graduation, he spent some time on the East Coast and then moved back to Reno and opened Desert Hills Animal Hospital. Family is the most important aspect in his life, which includes his furry kids. He has four children ranging from ages 19-30 years old. Dr. Hirschman enjoys all of the outdoor activities that the Reno/Tahoe area has to offer. His favorite baseball team is the San Francisco Giants and in his spare time, he enjoys home remodeling projects.


Amanda J. Brock, D.V.M.

Dr. Brock graduated from Oregon State University and Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She has been practicing Veterinary Medicine for 11 years. Dr. Brock enjoys the outdoors with camping, quadding and home renovations. Her family is an important part of her life; she has two children and a loving husband. Dr. Brock also has a golden retriever named Buddy.


Dr. Amanda Coats, D.V.M.

Dr. Amanda Coats completed her undergraduate degree here in Nevada at the Universty of Nevada, Reno where she also completed her Masters degree in Animal Science in 2005. She then went on to get her D.V.M at Washington State Universty, graduating in 2009. In her free time Dr. Coats loves to cook, read a good book and also enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking. She has the most wonderful dog named Kodi that you will see roaming the hospital from time to time.


Dr. Jen Vittori, D.V.M.

Dr. Jen Vittori graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, and has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery in the Sparks area since then. She enjoys surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine, but most of all the wonderful families that bring their “fur babies” in to see her! Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Josh, their new little boy, Andrew, and their adorable yellow lab Frank. She also likes to play softball, camp, fish, and complete various crafting projects at home.


Kristy L. Browett LVT

Kristy is a Reno native and graduated from the University of Nevada – Reno in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. That same year she married her husband, Mike Browett. In 2012 she graduated from the Truckee Meadows Community College Veterinary Technician program and is a State of Nevada certified Veterinary Technician. Kristy and Mike have two wonderful children, Iva and Emerson. Other family members include two German Shepherds, Zoja and Rhaina, two cats, Kylie and Leila, and two chickens. Kristy and Mike enjoy spending time together as a family and camping.


Allyson “Ally” Boss, LVTIT

Ally has been working in the Veterinary field for the last two years and is currently attending school at Penn Foster in the Veterinary Technician Program. She loves working with animals and can’t wait to further her education and experience in the Veterinary health field. In her free time, she enjoys kickboxing, hiking, and camping with her dog, Rory.


Hillary Brown, Office Manager

Hillary has been working at Desert Hills Animal Hospital for 10 years and loves working with the animals. In her free time you can find Hillary outdoors. She loves hiking, riding her bike and spending time with her son, husband and little Boston Terrier Lulu. Hillary is also very involved in her Church and loves the Lord.


Adrianne “Addy” Raso, VTIT

Addy has been working in the Veterinary field for 16 years and is very passionate about her job. She is attending the Veterinary Technician program at Penn Foster College and will be graduating this Spring. In her free time you can find Addy hiking, camping, snowboarding, and gardening. Addy has a love for Boxers and has two rescues of her own Penny and Zander who are accompanied by there kitty friends Dexter and Poncho.


Emily Reinig, VTIT

Emily has been working in the animal care field for 7 years. She spent a few years working in zoos then switched to small animal practice. She is currently enrolled in the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician program to get her Veterinary Technician license. She has two rescue pets at home, a dog named Sydney and a cat named Nala. In her spare time, Emily enjoys camping and hiking with Sydney and her Fiance.


Chelsea Meyer

Chelsea has been working as a Veterinary Assistant for 2 years and thoroughly enjoys her job. She is currently enrolled at Penn Foster to become a Veterinary Technician and plans on graduating in 2018. In her free time you can find Chelsea hiking with her dog Blue, reading a good book, baking and spending time with her two cats Kai and Nalu.


Justice Corona

Justice is one of our friendly receptionist. She enjoys working with our clients and their pets. She has been working in the Veterinary field for about a year and wants to continue working with animals. She is currently enrolled in school to become a Veterinary technician. In her free time she loves to spend time with her large family, she also enjoys physical fitness and spending time with her dog Milo.


Erin Dawson

Erin is our lead receptionist and has been working at Desert Hills Animal Hospital for the last ten years. Erin has built close relationships with our clients and their pets. In her free time she enjoys camping with her husband and her Jack Russell Terriers Dixie and Henry. She also loves to knit and ride her bike.
